Events About us
A private island one mile from downtown Boston. Every event here helps connect Boston students to hands-on outdoor education.

Our purpose
Our purpose is to connect Boston students to hands-on outdoor education that fosters confidence, leadership and resiliency for a lifetime.
The island is the classroom: 204 acres of forest, salt marsh and sandy shoreline, where Boston kids have been learning since 1833. For many Boston Public Schools students, it's their first time climbing a rock face or exploring a tide pool.
Students come home with confidence, purpose and the belief that they can do more than they imagined.
Why it matters
2 in 3
children from low-income households get one or no out-of-school learning opportunities before high school. Kids from higher-income families get six or more.
Great Events, Greater Purpose
Our core programs are free for students and their families. Philanthropy and the island's events cover the cost, so every clambake, wedding and retreat helps another student get outside.
"Every young person deserves the chance to discover their strength, their voice, and their place in the natural world."
